Sukhumvit Road, a 400km arterial highway that slithers east, from Bangkok to Trat near the Cambodian border. This series focuses on a 500m stretch of the road and it’s surrounding soi’s (side streets) from Soi 4 to Soi 23. Here, the six-lane highway passes through the heart of Bangkok’s tourist district. Lined with hotels to suit all budgets, the road is congested with traffic and the sidewalks with improvised stalls selling everything from deep-fried insect snacks to imitation Rolex watches, crossbows, t-shirts and sex toys. And as day changes to night, Sukhmvit road changes it’s face… The holidaymakers return to their hotels, fortunetellers and drug dealers, the plastic stools of vendors selling beer and girls from Isaan selling their bodies replace the tourist trinkets. But the traffic never stops, the street never sleeps, dreams and nightmares blend and the cycle never ends.
